Teen & Adult Group Lesson Courses

Learn, progress, and enjoy the journey

Our Teen & Adult Group Lesson Courses are designed for riders who want to build confidence, skill, and understanding in a relaxed, structured environment. Whether you’re new to riding, returning after time away, or developing your existing skills, our courses focus on real, measurable progress — without tests or pressure.

How Our Courses Work

Lessons run in 8-week courses, giving you consistency with your coach, your horse, and your group. You’ll stay with the same small team throughout each block, building trust and confidence as your skills develop.

You don’t need to choose a topic — every course covers all key areas of riding, including:

  • Flatwork and rider position

  • Polework and coordination

  • Jumping technique and confidence

  • Riding out safely

  • Rider fitness and body awareness

Each course forms part of a long-term pathway. Most riders take around one full year to complete each BHS Challenge Award level (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum).

BHS Challenge Awards

Our courses follow the British Horse Society (BHS) Challenge Awards — a recreational, logbook-style programme that celebrates your progress and helps you learn in a structured but enjoyable way.

There are no tests or exams — your achievements are recorded through experience, discussion, and practical learning during your lessons.

Each level includes:

  • 4 logbooks, one for each key area: Riding Flat, Riding Jump, Riding Fit, and Riding Out Safely

  • A certificate awarded on completion of each logbook

  • Once all four logbooks are complete, you’ll receive your BHS Challenge Award badge

The Challenge Awards are ideal for recreational riders, while also offering a direct entry route into BHS professional qualifications if you ever wish to take your learning further.

Enrolment Fee: £30 per level (Bronze → Platinum)

About the Rider – Included with Your Awards

The About the Rider badge helps you reflect on your journey and recognise your growth as a rider.

You’ll build a short rider logbook that includes:

  • Your personal goals and milestones

  • Coach feedback and focus points

  • Simple exercises to support strength, balance, and confidence

Your logbook also acts as a handy reference guide — somewhere to look back and refresh on topics covered, review your coach feedback, and see how far you’ve come.

This section helps you understand the bigger picture: how your mindset, knowledge, and physical skills develop together throughout each level.
